IN your regular audio above, you’ll hear audio markers where I repeat what I hard from the reverse spirit box in real time, then say “rewind by 5 seconds”.

On the SBox recordable spirit box audio above, here are a few markers that I found. I stayed focused on the PInckney Mansion site. This is not an all inclusive list, and I’ll ask that you go through the entire recording.

  • 21:40 “Free”
  • 22:15 “chairs” *I’m going to note here that I’ve seen/heard this term here many times, either in or near the PInckney Mansion site.
  • 31:12 “see something here”
  • 32:23 “roofing” The PInckney Mansion lost it’s roof in the Great Fire of 1861.
  • 33:03 “can’t trust”
  • 41:42 “looking for you”
  • 41:52 “in the dark”

Justin and Whitney heard “George Bush” on the SB7 spirit box when asking about the pallbearer at Eliza Pinckney’s funeral; the answer to that question is George Washington.

I didn’t find any odd shadows or anomalies in the photos or thermal imaging video. I also couldn’t find any relation to a “Nathaniel” to the Pinckneys, but there is a Nathaniel Russell House Museum; I just can’t find a connection.

The digital spirit box word list below contains notes and links to further explore the locations you visited.

At the top of this page, you’ll find the Stories in the Cemetery podcast, where to leave reviews for your tour (always appreciated), and the link/names to all the devices and apps used. You guys did a great job here collecting the data. Feel free to contact me when you find more evidence in your data. My contact info is at the top.

November 21, 7PM Cortney Steve

Parties of Cortney and Steve,

Be sure to go through the regular audio for audio markers on the reverse spirit box where I’ll say what I heard in real time, then “rewind by 5 seconds”. This will also give you the non-recordable terms heard on the SB7 spirit box.

For your SBox recording above, here are just a few of the phrases I heard. This is not all inclusive.

  • 20:06 “same thing backwards” Eliza PInckney was 22 when she got married and that’s also her birthday; December 22. 22 is the same thing backwards.
  • 28:01 “me included”
  • 30:34 “to the tiniest”
  • 31:52 “tangled mess”
  • 32:08 “leaders”
  • 33:16 “the Bible”
  • 35:04 “serious fire”. The Pinckney Mansion lot burned down in the Great Fire of 1861.
  • 35:20 “sorry, Amanda”. I couldn’t ignore this one even though we were still a few blocks from Philadelphia Alley. Amanda was the name of Dr. Ladd’s fiancee.
  • 1:16:56 “furniture” George Poirier stacked the furniture to reach the rafters for his noose at the Wagener Building.
  • 1:18:14 “take the risk”
  • 1:23:25 “we heard you shouldn’t”

And let’s not forget about the strange temperature differences in the Red Barn Lot.

I did not find any anomalies in the thermal imaging video. AT the top of this page you’ll find my contact info, where to send evidence that you find in your data and of course, where to leave reviews.

Don’t forget to check out the podcast at the top and the links for the devices/apps we used on your ghost hunt.

November 20, 9PM Jimmy

Jimmy and Christina,

IN your regular audio, you’ll hear audio markers where I repeat what I heard in real time, then say “rewind by 5 seconds”, for when I separated from you at the PInckney Mansion site.

IN your Sbox recordable audio, I found these few audio markers. This is not an all inclusive list. I focused on our time in Philadelphia Alley and the Wagener Building.

  • 00:03 “her name is” I’m tying this to “Charlotte” from below. I don’t have any verifiable evidence of where this came from. But it does make a complete sentence. This doesn’t happen often.
  • 1:17:35 “think about”
  • 1:18:12 “that drew” near Philadelphia Alley where duels occurred.
  • 1:20:04 “victory”

I did not see any anomalies in your thermal imaging video.

In the digital spirit box word list below, I bolded the terms I felt were relevant.

At the top of this page you’ll find the Stories in the Cemetery podcast and I left a few links above to learn more of the stories in your hometown. You’ll also find where to leave reviews and where to send any extra evidence from your data.

It was my pleasure to teach you two the haunted stories of Charleston. There will always be more and of course, I’ll write about them in my blog and post in my podcast.

Click here to view photos taken during your ghost hunt.

In your regular audio, you’ll hear audio markers where I repeat what I heard in real time, then say “rewind by 5 seconds”.

In your Sbox recording, I found the following markers. This is not an all inclusive list and I focused on the Red Barn Lot to listen for the “Kyle”s that were heard in real time. Pay attention to “44”.

  • 10:44 “incredibly smart”
  • 23:16 “leftover recipes”
  • 25:34 “you’re not alone”
  • 25:36 “for the dead”
  • 27:53 “44” Died on November 20, 1972, Frank Reagan a teammate of Big John Cannady of the New York Giants in 1947, had the number 44. The irony here is the date of his death, it’s the same date of your ghost hunt. More about Frank here.
  • 28:36 “Kyle”
  • 30:31 “exhausted” a direct, intelligent response to a question asked.
  • 31:15 “feel better”
  • 34:38 “hurtful”
  • 36:43 “difficulty breathing”
  • 38:51 “Lucas” Eliza “Lucas” Pinckney.

I didn’t find any odd anomalies in your photos or thermal imaging video.

In the digital spirit box word list below, you’ll find links and verfiable information as to why each bold term is relevant to the location or our ghost hunt as a whole. These should keep you reading for quite a while.

At the top of this page, you’ll find where to leave reviews, where to send extra evidence when you find it, as well as the Stories in the Cemetery podcast.

November 17, 9PM Jamin Stephanie

Parties of Jamin and Stephanie,

Looks like the focus here was definitely on Philadelphia Alley.

IN your regular audio above, you’ll hear me repeat what I heard in real time, then say rewind by 5 seconds.

As for your spirit box audio clips, here’s a few that I found. This is not an all inclusive list.

Long Audio

  • 19:23 “radar”
  • 37:35 “I’m guessing no”
  • 37:39 “brought home faster”
  • 42:42 “ready”
  • 42:43 “no one’s called Andrew” Fun fact, Charleston has an Andrew Pinckney Inn located at 40 Pinckney St., there is no actual Andrew Pinckney, this name was made up to be first in the phone book.
  • 1:06:15 “law firm” Ralph Isaacs was an attorney in Charleston.
  • 1:07:22 “Amanda” the name of Dr. Ladd’s fiancee in Rhode Island.
  • 1:08:31 “patients” in reference to Dr. Ladd.

Short Audio has one clip I found odd. 10:29, there is a choked voice.

I left plenty of notes and links below in the digital spirit box word list.

Let’s not forget that Angela heard “Ralph” on her spirit box when we were looking into the Wagener Building. Again, seems that all activity was leaned in on Philadelphia Alley and the duel that occurred between Dr. Ladd and Ralph Isaacs.

I listened for the “Benjamin” that was heard on the recordable spirit box, but could not locate it.

At the top of the page, you’ll find links to where to send extra evidence, where to find my books locally, where to leave reviews, and of course, the tools/apps used while on your ghost hunt. This was an interesting ghost hunt, none of my tours are the same, so I keep an open mind when reviewing your data. Finding more about Philadelphia Alley is always a nice surprise.

November 13, 9PM Melissa

In the regular audio above, you’ll hear my audio markers where I repeat what I heard in real time, then “rewind by x seconds”.

For your spirit box audio, I focused on Philadelphia Alley looking for “the surgeon” and “samuel”, both of which I couldn’t find. I’m hoping you’ll email me when you do find both messages. Here are a few things I did find:

  • 1:04:36 “out of this world”
  • 1:05:03 “build your rank”
  • 1:07:58 “this is it”
  • 1:08:39 “dollar for dollar”
  • 1:12:08 “looking for a…”
  • 1:12:06 “they call me”
  • 1:14:59 “individuals”
  • 1:16:50 “believe in freedom”

I feel like all the terms/phrases above could be related to the duel(s) in Philadelphia Alley.

I left plenty of notes and links below that are relatable terms in the digital spirit box word list. Plenty for you to go through!

At the top of this page, you’ll find links to the devices/apps that i use on my ghost hunts, along with where to find my books locally, where to leave reviews and how to get in touch with me when you find more evidence that you’d like me to review. Please check out the 7PM tour before yours, I’m really excited about “George Washington”.

November 13, 7PM Andrea

For your regular audio above, you’ll hear my audio markers where I repeat what I hard in real time, then say “rewind by x seconds”.

As for your SBox audio above, here are just a few markers I found. This is not the entire list, I’m going to encourage you to listen to it in completion to see what you find. I focused on the Pinckney Mansion site.

  • 9:44 “send that back to ya”
  • 10:27 “each color”
  • 24:08 “43”
  • 30:12 “George Washington” HOLY COW!! YESS!!
  • 30:23 “prayers”
  • 38:42 “runaway”
  • 48:38 “no doubt”
  • 58:15 “best part is”
  • 1:08:59 “23”
  • 1:20:04 “in trouble”

I’m super excited about “George Washington” above!! If you remember, Eliza Pinckney had George Washington as a pallbearer at her funeral.

Below, you’ll find links and notes in relation to the digital spirit box word list collected. There’s plenty to go through here and I’m still unsure about all the music references, but I will keep digging to find out who the musician was out of the locations we visited.

The “liver decline” in the list below was a grandson of Eliza Pinckney, Daniel Huger who died of Liver failure. He was the son of Harriot Pinckney, Eliza’s daughter.

At the top of the page, you’ll find links to the devices/apps we used last night, where to find my books locally, and where to leave reviews (which are my best friend). Also, if you get into podcasts, you’ll find the SITC podcast above and I highly recommend the Pleasing Terrors podcast and Graveyard Tales. You can find all of these on any podcatcher including iTunes.

November 7, 9PM Kara

Kara and Jared,

Every ghost hunt is different. Yours, in fact, has quite of data wrapped around Big John’s Tavern which was named after New York Giants player, Big John Cannady. Check out the following articles before diving into the actual data

History of Big John’s Building

Big John’s closes abruptly

Here are a few markers I found in your SBox audio above:

  • 00:05 “opportunity”
  • 2:07 “a threat”
  • 9:27 “headache”
  • 19:07 “offense”
  • 20:40 “over the course of…”
  • 20:58 “thirty” I should note that Big John owned the building for approximately 30-40 years.

I am sure there are more phrases/words in the SBox audio but with the alarming amount of words in teh digital word list below relating to Big John, I stayed focused on the beginning of your ghost hunt to see what else would lead to Big John.

There are plenty of notes/links in the word list below. I’ll be very interested to hear what else you come up with out of your data and you can find my contact info at the top of hte page.

You’ll also find the SITC podcast of other ghost investigations I’ve worked on, as well as tidbits about The Secret, the treasure hunt we spoke about in Philadelphia Alley.

I did not see any odd anomalies in the thermal imaging video upon a quick review. Please don’t hesitate to email me any findings you encounter.

You two did a great job with the equipment and learning more about the real field of ghost hunting. At the top of the page, you’ll find the SITC podcast, where to send any extra evidence and the link for all tools/apps used on my tours.

Parties of Carol and Rebekah,

In your audio you’ll hear audio markers where I repeat what I heard in real time, then say “rewind by 5 seconds”.

As for your SBox Audio, I found the following markers. This is not all of them and you should look for more. When I’m doing a full investigation for my podcast, I literally write down everything I hear and look for clues in the words/phrases and possibly link them together. Feel free to email me your lists and things you find, my list below is merely to continue training your ears on what to listen for.

  • 00:21 “People”
  • 17:16 “natural”
  • 26:36 “have to be accountable”
  • 42:35 “right here in front of me”
  • 47:47 “guarantee it”
  • 1:09:15 “to keep you company” *We would’ve been discussing Dr. Ladd and Mr. Isaacs at the theatre and how they couldn’t sit next to each other.
  • 1:30:15 “quality…good” *Discussing the boll weevil in the cotton of George Poirier.

I did dive into the wire vs noose theory we talked about and found this article with a rope being used by Poirier at the Wagener Building: George’s suicide.

I didn’t notice any anomalies in the thermal imaging video upon a quick review.

Rebekah, to answer your question of why the rice plantations were starting to go downhill, I’m providing this article to hopefully elaborate on your curiosity. Rise and Demise of Rice in South Carolina.

There are plenty of notes/links in the digital spirit box word list below. This ghost hunt had 87 entries, which is above average.

Locals, I would appreciate you spreading the word about my “tours” by sharing and liking the SITC Facebook page. That would be greatly appreciated.

At the top of this page, you’ll find where to get my books locally, the SITC podcast and info on where to send your evidence that you find in the data. Happy reading, there’s a ton of info in here, great job!

In the SBox audio above, I heard the following markers:

  • 00:07 “jerk”
  • 11:19 “communicate about”
  • 12:56 “strong”
  • 13:34 “red”
  • 32:08 “in this world”
  • 1:12:23 “lawyer” *Ralph Isaacs from the Dueler’s Alley story was an attorney.
  • 1:18:05 “still alive” Dr. Ladd was still alive after being shot in the knee.

This is not an all inclusive list and I’m sure you’ll want to go through the entire recording.

Your thermal imaging video cut off the last few minutes where we filmed the Wagener Building windows of the second story and I did not see any anomalies in the Pinckney Mansion site.

Below, I left you links and notes about the relevant terms from the digital spirit box. This should keep you guys reading more about Charleston’s ghosts further.

Don’t forget to listen to the regular audio above for any EVP’s and/or whistling while in Philadelphia Alley.

At the top of this page, you’ll find where to send extra evidence you find in the data, links on the tools/apps used on my tours as well as places to review.

November 3, 7PM Cheri Mandee

Parties of Cheri and Mandee,

In the regular audio, you’ll hear markers where I’ll say “rewind by 5 seconds” followed by a repeat of what I heard in real time.

In our SBox audio, here’s a few markers I found. It’s not the entire list and I’ll be interested in what you hear in the audio as a whole.

  • 00:47 “Harriet” Eliza’s only daughter’s name was Harriet.
  • 11:36 “he says”
  • 11:45 “NFL” we were still by Big John’s Tavern that was named after Big John Cannady of the 1947 New York Giants
  • 20:45 “Charles” Pinckney.
  • 21:40-:50 (bits of conversation can be heard here between a male and female)
  • 26:36 “for everybody”
  • 27:25 “I think I could’ve”
  • 33:25 “everyone knows”
  • 39:46 “alright, alright”

I left plenty of notes/links in the digital spirit box word list below. I’m excited to have the numeral “4” show up and the word “handful” as these were direct answers to my questions in the Pinckney Mansion Site.

I spent a good amount of time this morning digging through records of 235 East Bay St, the former home to the Pinckney Mansion and came up empty handed as to what was there between the home being torn down in 1861 and then Molly Darcy’s, a recent restaurant.

At the top of this page, you’ll find where to send any extra evidence in your data, the SITC podcast and links for the tools/apps we used during your ghost hunt. This was a fun group, the smaller, mid size groups usually are.

November 1, 7PM Blair

Blair, Billy and Reese,

In the audio, you’ll hear the stories all over again and hopefully an EVP or two.

For your SBox Audio, I’m leaving you a few markers that I heard with an excitement about the first one.

  • 7:41 “they have a baby” IF this isn’t proof enough that someone was with us last night, I don’t know what is!
  • 11:20 “i’ll say that’
  • 16:40 “in the nation”
  • 26:50 “I strongly”
  • 34:21 “generation”
  • 49:21 “hello”
  • 1:02:44 “nothing wrong with that”

This isn’t all inclusive, and I’ll encourage you to listen to the entire recording for more messages. I don’t like to imply messaging like the TV shows.

I left you some notes/links below in the digital spirit box word list that were also relevant.

Reese was the youngest ghost hunter I’ve had on my ghost hunts, so thank you for broadening up my age range! HA! I’m glad this was a private tour for your family so that I could accommodate Reese and the needs for you guys to have a good time. I can’t say that would’ve happened for you on another ghost tour. Thanks for allowing me to show you a good time in our beautiful city. Enjoy the rest of your travels.
